Initial Meeting

Client relationships generally begin with an initial consultation where we collect information to develop a good understanding of your financial situation and objectives.  During this meeting, we’ll ask a number of questions to develop a financial profile including factors such as your ability and capacity to assume investment risk, overall return expectations, tax situation, investment time horizon, liquidity needs, and income preferences.  We’ll also seek to understand any other factors specific to your situation (such as a significant amount of employer stock options) that may impact the investment strategies that we would pursue.

Follow Up Meeting

After the initial discussions, we spend some time compiling a written statement of objectives and a written client investment profile.  We review these with you at a follow up meeting to ensure that we are on track and that our understanding of your needs and goals is comprehensive and accurate.  If so, we’ll share our recommended investment strategy to best achieve your goals.  This will include an asset allocation recommendation, and for accounts with an equity component, may include a sample portfolio recommendation.

Implement the Investment Strategy

The next step in the process is for us to implement the agreed upon investment strategy.  We will allocate the assets as indicated and select the individual securities that are appropriate for the individual portfolio.  For equity portfolios, we will generally include an appropriate number of securities to provide diversification and that are chosen specifically with your goals in mind.  We do not utilize a “one size fits all” type of portfolio implementation, as that would be contrary to our belief in the importance of customization.  This means we are also willing to work with an existing portfolio of securities to maximize your after-tax total return subject to your situation.

Monitor Performance and Rebalance as Necessary

Through our custody agent, Fidelity Institutional Brokerage Group, we provide you with monthly statements.  We also have the ability to provide quarterly performance tracking reports, measuring your account performance vs. appropriate benchmarks and indexes.  We meet regularly to discuss each account and ensure that the asset allocation remains appropriate as parts of the account change in value and as objectives change.
